Last week, the MacArthur Foundation announced that the Internet Archive’s proposal to digitize and provide libraries and learners free digital access to four million books is one of eight semi-finalists for its "100&Change competition,”  a program to award one $100 million grant "to fund a single proposal that promises real and measurable progress in solving a critical problem of our time.”

On Thursday, March 2nd, at 10am PST / 1pm EST, SPARC will host a one-hour rapid reaction webcast with Brewster Kahle, founder of the Internet Archive and 2012 inductee into the Internet Hall of Fame, to discuss their 100&Change proposal and how libraries can get involved. This will be the first webcast in this new rapid reaction format, which is meant to connect SPARC member libraries with those leading significant new developments as quickly as possible after news breaks.

Registration is free but required, and is open to any individual at a SPARC member library.

You can read more about the Internet Archive’s proposal on their website here.
